It was a sweet and magical moment for our little Formativistas last 9th of November, 2024. The advent of an adventure yet to be conceived by their young flourishing minds, a land riddled with colorful hues that seem to rival the celestial arc in the sky, a sweet long-lasting aftertaste that leaves them in awe for what is to come next: it’s the time of the year again, for the Pajama Party 2024.
As the razing sun made its grand exit to the heavens, casting a cool ethereal zephyr in its wake, our young and excited preschoolers, accompanied by their supportive parents and guardians, made their entry in gate 4 welcomed by the ushers and usherettes of varying colors. They served as a magical sentinel, guiding the parents where to peruse the school grounds, to find the place meant for their children—a room filled with colors and adventure, where their next adventure takes them, only time will tell.
After they were settled inside their respective classrooms, with the aid of their teachers, the ever-so-enthusiastic kids went out for a resplendent banquet, filling their starving stomachs and consequently recharging their energy to full vigor. The energy gained from such a feastful dinner will be a prerequisite for the activities that they will be going to witness. Activities that will tickle their minds and encourage curiosity. After filling their life bellies, they then retreated to their classrooms to brush their teeth.
At 7:00 pm, the kids went out of their classrooms and gathered around in a teepee. After they were settled in their places, our FASDS teachers prepared a short role play that revolved around a not-so bright star overshadowed by his luminous companions but still tried its best to shine even in the face of dark clouds that threatened their existence. In the light of the story, it teaches our young kids the values of perseverance, determination, and courage in the face of adversity. As the story comes to a close, Mr. Laurence James Jopia, ignites the campfire, formally starting the Pajama Party 2024.
The most anticipated event of the night is the Magic Show, where the Magician Alex appears on stage to dazzle the young, curious minds of our little ones with reality-bending skits and humorous word play. One of the highlights of his magic trick is the fact that he was able to spawn a white dove out of thin air, applauded even by the teachers who bear witness to such a magnificent and proficient display of honed skill, or in magical terms: conjuration. The students equally stood in awe too, mouths wide open and eyes brimming with excitement and curiosity, sparking their intellectual and fantasy-filled vigor.
The show concludes in an energetic tone with the magician singing a yell for the school, activating the stored energy of the kids and teachers alike to also comply with the yell, standing, hands clasped in the air, in sync with the magician’s orchestration. Such an energetic showcase of unity is the rightful climatic ending for a show as great as the school.
The children then retreated into their quarters; heroic stories told by teachers, a playful symphony of chasing and hiding as if the kids were enacting the story. There was never a dull-moment as laughter soared the entire classroom creating a positive atmosphere that is sure to be engraved in their minds and hearts as a core memory. This kind of vigour surely depletes the energy of our kids as they, then, prepare themselves for their eventual slumber. The lights were turned off, dimming the quarter as if to simulate an evening at their house. As the kids nestled in their beds, silence conquered the scene, soothing the drained kids and the teachers guarding them all along.
The Pajama Party 2024 ends in a poetic silence as it started with the sparks of energy from our young kids. At exactly quarter to 10, the kids were roused up by their teachers signaling their farewell to the Land of Candies. The parents patiently waiting outside are a testament of how supportive they are in their child’s concluding adventure. Since some kids are under the sleep spell, unable to be woken up by their teachers, their parents carried them to their cars eventually bringing these tired adventurers to their home land, to rest and rejuvenate.
In this program, the young kids practiced the essence of self-independence. The fact that they are able to eat on their own, brush their teeth, lay their beds to their liking, participate in a social activity albeit with guidance is a proof that these kids, young may it seem, would be able to master the above-mentioned life-long skills, helping them navigate the intricacies of “another year level” in this fleeting journey they are currently shaping.
Congratulations to these brave, intrepid warriors who braved the Candy Land and reaped the fruit of experience. As you retreat home with these bags full of memories with you, may you not forget the shared experiences you have had along with your friends and teachers.
