The Division Schools Press Conference in Cebu is an event organized by multiple divisions, including District School Supervisors, Mayors, and schools across Cebu. The event allows student journalists to compete in various categories and professions, such as radio broadcasting, editorial writing, editorial cartooning, and feature writing.
The DSPC serves as a stepping stone for young aspiring journalists, allowing them to showcase their skills and reach greater heights. This year, the event was hosted by the municipalities of Liloan and Consolacion. The Mayor of Liloan, Honorable Aljew Frasco, was unable to attend the opening or closing ceremonies. Instead, Conslacion’s Mayor, Honorable Teresa “Nene” Pepito Alegado, gave an inspiring speech to the young journalists, motivating them to strive harder and higher.
The event also featured a presentation by Kaylee Nina Rose, a Tawag ng Tanghalan singer, to support the morality of journalists and ease tension.
An Oath to becoming a journalist was also given, and District Supervisor Madam Prescilla Cacanog from Liloan, emphasized the importance of following the rules. The closing song, “I LOVE CEBU,” was performed by multiple speakers, ending the DSPSC’s Opening ceremony.
