The annual FASDS camping event, held last November 12–13, 2024, provided a unique opportunity for students to reconnect with the wild and test their survival skills. The event, designed to develop independence and teamwork, divided the students into different patrols, each guided by patrol leaders, advisors, and senior scouters. The two-day adventure began with the hustle of setting up tents, organizing equipment, and connecting with fellow patrol members. The opening ceremony marked the start of a packed schedule, with students rotating through various bases dedicated to teaching essential scouting skills like fire starting, knot-tying, and compass mapping. The day culminated in a series of scouting games, testing the students’ newfound knowledge and encouraging them to apply their skills in practical scenarios.

As night fell, the energy shifted from the day’s activities to a vibrant campfire gathering. Each patrol presented their unique Scout yells and presentations, showcasing their camaraderie and enthusiasm. The evening continued with the BSP Got Talent competition, where students showcased their talents in a lively and entertaining display. The excitement and laughter of the presentations filled the air, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for the scouts. Following the talent show, the students, exhausted but exhilarated from a day filled with fun and learning, prepared for a well-deserved night’s rest and for the activities that’s waiting for them the next day.

The loud ringing sounds of sirens marked the start of the second day of the camp. The scouters’ day started early and chaotic as they ran to join and dance to the lively rhythm of a zumba led by the scout instructors. Following a hearty breakfast, the students prepared for the day’s final challenge: an obstacle course designed to test their teamwork and problem-solving skills. Each patrol, with one member acting as the leader and the rest blindfolded, navigated through five challenging stages, including reciting the Scout Law, passing a ball over and under each other, navigating a simulated forest, and walking with one leg tied to the other. The final stage saw the patrol leaders planting their patrol flags at the finish line, signifying the completion of the obstacle course.

The event concluded with an awards ceremony, recognizing the achievements of each patrol in the various activities and competitions. Patrol Wolf and Horse emerged as the top performers, winning seven badges each. Special awards were also presented, recognizing the most organized, cleanest, and coordinated patrols, as well as the best patrol leader and the best Scout yell. The ceremony was a celebration of teamwork, perseverance, and the spirit of scouting, leaving the students with lasting memories and a renewed appreciation for the importance of basic survival skills. The FASDS Camping 2024 event served as a reminder of the enduring values of scouting, fostering camaraderie, independence, and a love for the outdoors.
